Battery of two marine cannons
Fitiu’u point, at Ha’amaire is the location of a battery of two marine 7 inch cannons, two small ammunition dumps and a firing post. The site been restored by the association, Mémoire polynésien. The path leading to it is maintained by the owners of the land, Poema Tuhiti and Jean-Marie Tiatia and it takes about fifteen minutes to walk there from the main road.
Mémoire polynesian has installed three information boards which explain in Tahitian, French and English how the 2 cannons and their support equipment were put in place.
You can also visit the site as part of a quad excursion.
