Recognized as the most important and sacred archeological site in French Polynesia, the marae of Taputapuātea is situated on the island of Raiatea, the heart of the "Polynesian triangle".The site has several different structures each with its own distinct function. A vestige of the 1,000 year-old mā'ohi civilization, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
