Tautira Point

The Tatatua point on Tautira has been landscaped. It's a 6,000 square metre park with public access to the black sand beach, a shaded relaxation area, a beach soccer and volleyball pitch and a bowling green.
Tatatua point at Tautira has been developed as a park of 6000 m2. The beach of fine black sand has, a shaded picnic area, a beach volley court, a beach soccer pitch and a boules pitch. The Maire Nui va'a teams from Tautira dominated men's and women's outrigger canoe races in Tahiti for about thirty years and there's a mural in the shower block which pays tribute to them.
Tatatua point is very popular with local fishermen who practice troll fishing, net fishing and spearfishing in the bay.
In the past, Tautira was considered to be a cultural center, as it was here that the first marae in the Winward Islands was built. It was dedicated to Oro, the god of the marae of Taputapuatea.
