The only Chinese temple in Tahiti.
Kanti temple is the only Chinese temple in Tahiti. Situated in the Mamao quarter of Papeete, the building was constructed in accordance with the rules of Feng Shui. The colors of the outside have a special signifcance: red for good luck, green for hope and yellow and orange which signify wealth.
Those interested in Chinese culture will enjoy the visit to this historic building, which is a corner of peace and tranquility in the very heart of Papeete.
However, when the entire Chinese community of Tahiti gathers there to celebrate the Chinese new year the temple takes on a completely different air with the dance of the lion, firecrackers and stalls selling all kinds of Chinese delicacies.
However, during the Chinese New Year festivities, the whole Chinese community gathers to celebrate and renew their wishes for the New Year. In addition, several dance performances such as the lion dance and Chinese food tasting booths are offered.
