Tiki Tuhiva

The giantess of Nuku Hiva, Guardian of Tradition and Knowledge
Tiki Tuhiva is a sculpture of two tiki on Tuhiva Hill, that was inaugurated in 2017. The tallest, a female tiki, stands 12 meters high and overlooks the bay of Taioha'e. She is the the guardian of Tradition and Knowledge. The smaller, male tiki, represents a warrior who is imposing his power. The work was conceived by Benoît Kautai, the mayor of Nuku Hiva, together with a sculpture artist, Grégorio Grand-Midi, who carried out the work with the assistance of two Marquesan sculptors, Teve Teatiu and Touatini Matiki.
