The red cliffs of Maupiti dominate Tereia beach. They are quite dangerous to climb, so the services of a professional guide are indespensable.

They are also known as “The cliffs of warrior Ninahere” in reference to a sad tale of unrequited love. The broken-hearted man would come to Tereia beach and collapse in tears every day. To this day, you can still see the imprint of his prostrate body in the rocks.
