Matira Beach

The mythical beach of Matira.
The public beach of Matira, or Matira point, was named after a whaleboat which came to Polynesia in 1790.

The beach is without doubt one of the finest on the Pearl of the Pacific. It is the most popular beach in Bora Bora and is also the finishing point of the world-famous va’a (outrigger canoe) race, the Hawaiki Nui, which is held each year.

An ideal spot for snorkeling and observing the colorful sealife. Just next to the beach is a park with a picnic area.
