The Marquesas Islands festival is a magnificent, colorful occasion, reputed for its artistic splendour, tattooing and traditional dance. The event is held every two years and is a moment of unification for Marquesans from all the islands in the archipelago. The festival is held in a different island each time.
A truly unforgettable experience
One of the most spectacular parts of the festival is the traditional dancing, including the famous haka and the dance of the pig. As well as artistic performances, the festival organizes various cultural activities such as traditional craftmanship and sports. It is also an excellent opportunity to discover more about the culture and daily life of the islanders. You should book accommodation and flights at least six months in advance to avoid disappointment, due to the large number of local and international visitors.
