The Tahiti Pro Teahupo’o is a major event in the professional world surfing calendar of The World Championship Tour (WCT) and World Surf League (WSL). Held each August in the Hava’e pass at Teahupo’o. It is also the most important event staged by the Tahitian Surf Federation.
A long-awaited competition every year
Each year in the month of August, Tahiti Iti is home to the Tahiti Pro Teahupo’o, a surfing event organized by the World Surf League. Very popular with the very best surfers such as Kelly Slater, John John Florence and Gabriel Medina, who enjoy testing their skills on one of the world’s heaviest waves, the giant ‘Jaws’. A perfect left-breaking tube in the beautiful warm waters of Tahiti. At certain periods of the year, notably when there are tropical depressions off the coast of New Zealand, the waves can be over 10 meters high, which attracts top-flight surfers from all over the world.
