Moorea, Tahiti’s sister island, is a peaceful island with two magnificent bays, Cook and Opunohu, luxuriant countryside and majestic mountains. The rich underwater ecosystem of the coral reefs and the great diversity of marine life make it ideal for scuba diving. Snorkeling in the lagoon, you can observe rays, sea turtles and even lemon sharks.

Diving sites in Moorea

With such a diverse marine life, Moorea is a veritable underwater paradise, ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling in the crystal clear lagoon. From August to November, humpback whales come to the waters of French Polynesia to reproduce and nurture their young. You can take a whale watching tour to observe them, with an authorized guide.

In the extreme northwest of Moorea, the Tiki dive site is renowned for having a swifltly changing current, but also for its excellent visibility. The sharks which reside there aren’t very fierce and you can watch them safely, but don’t disturb them.

Vaiare

In front of the ferry quay, it’s a dive site with a great diversity of marine life, including rays, blacktip sharks, sea turtles, schools of barracudas and lemon sharks.
