Moorea, Tahiti’s sister island, is a peaceful island with two magnificent bays, Cook and Opunohu, luxuriant countryside and majestic mountains. The rich underwater ecosystem of the coral reefs and the great diversity of marine life make it ideal for scuba diving. Snorkeling in the lagoon, you can observe rays, sea turtles and even lemon sharks.
Diving sites in Moorea
With such a diverse marine life, Moorea is a veritable underwater paradise, ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling in the crystal clear lagoon. From August to November, humpback whales come to the waters of French Polynesia to reproduce and nurture their young. You can take a whale watching tour to observe them, with an authorized guide.

Tiki
In the extreme northwest of Moorea, the Tiki dive site is renowned for having a swifltly changing current, but also for its excellent visibility. The sharks which reside there aren’t very fierce and you can watch them safely, but don’t disturb them.
Vaiare
In front of the ferry quay, it’s a dive site with a great diversity of marine life, including rays, blacktip sharks, sea turtles, schools of barracudas and lemon sharks.


Opunohu Canyon
The magnificent Opunohu pass is suitable for divers of all levels. You can explore the extraordinary Garden of Roses at a depthe of 40 meters. The site has canyons, dropoffs, overhangs and even caves for you to explore.

Flights to Moorea
Moorea is just next door to Tahiti and flights only take about 10 minutes. There are also regular flights between Moorea and Huahine, Raiatea and Bora Bora.
Moorea ferry
Ferries for Moorea leave regularly from the ferry terminal in Papeete and the crossing takes from 25 to 45 minutes, depending on the ferry company.
Hotel transfer
You can rent a car, a motor scooter or even a bike to get around while you’re in Moorea. You can collect them on arrival at the quayside in Vaiare or Temae airport. You can reserve a taxi or when you book your accommodation.
