Itineraries two days in Tetiaroa

In 1960, while filming ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’, Marlon Brando fell in love with Tetiaro atoll and eventually succeeded in purchasing it on a long lease. This 6 km²atoll has several motu (islets) with superb, soft sandy beaches dotted around its magnificent turquoise lagoon. One of them is an ornithological reserve. There are few more beautiful places on earth than Tetiaroa, and here’s our suggested itinerary for a two day break in this magnificent oasis.

Day 1

Part 1

Discover Tetiaroa

Embark on a catamara and three or four hours later you’ll come to an oasis of land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. There is no pass in the coral reef here, so you have to get into the boat’s dinghy and surf across it. A short stroll takes you to motu Rimatu’u, from where you can see Bird Island. The water is so clear and warm that you’ll never want to get out.

Day 1

Part 2

A magnificent sunset

After a day in the sea around Bird Island, go back to the catamaran for a cocktail as you watch the glorious sunset over the ocean. You captain will join you for a dinner of freshly caught fish and delight you with some tales and legends about this beautiful atoll.

Day 2

Between land and sea

You can spend the morning on the beach and in the lagoon, or you can go fishing with crew of the catamaran. Lunch will be served on board before you set sail for the return trip to Tahiti. On the way, you’ll probably see a few dolphins and in the mating season from July to November, you might even cross the path of a humpback whale.
